About
1935-1946 | Crosby’s most famous series.
Bing Crosby’s dominance of network radio began with his thirteen-year run as the host of the Kraft Music Hall program on NBC. The show routinely attracted an unheard of fifty million radio listeners each week. Bing’s Kraft show became the template for the iconic musical variety show format that Crosby and many others would employ for many years. In the early years the show ran for an hour and would be performed live twice each week because of the time difference between the east and west coasts. The show was changed to a half-hour format to ease the burden of the schedule – which for Bing included making movies and records.
